Iris and the Dragonflies by: Rosemary Danielis [Review]

About the Book:

Iris, a feisty, solitary, eleven-year-old girl prefers being down by the creek near her house more than anywhere else in the world. School is nothing but a joyless prison and uninterested in her classmates she spends each day gazing out the window, waiting for the dismissal bell to ring. Her only friends are the dragonflies who flit through the shoulder high bulrushes growing along the creek's banks. Iris discovers the dragonflies are more than they appear to be and that she is the key to resolving an age-old battle between light and dark, good and evil. She has the ability to unleash the power of the Earth to restore the balance that has been lost. This however is not what the Solaris have in mind. They are the world's most powerful Evil and Iris is the only one who can stop them! Will Iris and her friends be able to win this battle? Iris and the Dragonflies is empowering, and a must read for all girls.

My Book Review:

The Dragonflies have a secret..

There are truly no words to describe the wonderful read "Iris and the Dragonflies" was to me! It was a "no put down" novel geared towards middle school teens, however I personally believe this novel can touch the heart of any that pick it up to read it. Its an easy read and you'll be finished in no time, as it truly is impossible to put it down. Author Rosemary Danielis created a heart warming masterpiece that will leave everyone wanting more from her as a writer!

Iris is a social outcast, with no friends except for a young girl named Grace, who is also socially awkward. Iris has a special talent of being able to have dragonflies talk to her, though no one except perhaps  her teacher believes her. She lives at home with her mother; who believes she has an overactive imagination and her father; who refuses to acknowledge any possibility that Iris is telling the truth.

Being that so many middle-school students can relate with Iris, who has had enough with school and can no longer relate to her peers as an outcast, she turns to the friendship of the Dragonflies who are unique and have a beauty within them.

"Iris and the Dragonflies" proved to be a powerful, entertaining, yet inspiration through inner beauty and strength, through Iris, the main character. As you read you gather a feel of becoming Iris and begin to feel exactly how she feels through her life. A remarkable book, a novel that I will find myself reading again and again!
